Description

This ten-day course presents a Structured Learning Experience (SLE) wherein the participants acquire understanding, competency, and proficiency on Architectural and Structural BIM Modeling. With SLE, the participants are able to gain, in a short period time, the most relevant learning experience needed to become proficient in Architectural and Structural BIM Modeling. The activities are taken from actual project that allows the participants to perform the Architectural and Structural BIM modeling based on industry standard. The course contains KNOW Units for understanding the basics as well as DO Units to gain competency required to accomplish all the activities. A participant has to pass the Competency Assessment in order to receive a Certificate of Proficiency.

Objectives
The participants will gain from this course the:
(a) Ability to use BIM Modeling tools for Architectural and Structural components of the building;
(b) Ability to work collaboratively on Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) projects;
(c) Ability to work in an actual project using 2D design plans to create BIM models of architectural and structural elements of a building; (d) Ability to create parametric families for the architectural and structural assemblies of the building; and
(e) Ability to extract Bill of Quantities (BOQ) as well as Shop and Detail Drawings.

Outline

The Basics of BIM Modeling Tools in relation to 2D Architectural and Structural design
Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) projects: The collaboration
Creating BIM models of architectural and structural elements from 2D design plans (columns, beams, slabs, stairs, footings; wall, windows, finishes, floors, doors)
Creating parametric families for the architectural and structural assemblies of the building (columns, beams, slabs, stairs, footings; Doors, windows, finishes, floors; host-based and non-host-based; in-place family and loaded family
Relationship between architectural and structural elements against other trades (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection)
Architectural and structural clash detection and conflict resolution
Extracting the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) (per volume of concrete, per weight of rebar of structural assemblies; per level, per linear meter, and per set of architectural assemblies
Extracting Shop Drawings and Detail Drawings
