ESCA Knowledge Academy President & COO Dr. Florigo C. Varona shares his view on the plight of ASEAN Electrical Engineers during the COVID-19 pandemic in a webinar hosted by the ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate-Electrical Installation (AEI-EI) held last April 17, 2020.
The webinar, the first of a series to be conducted by the AEI-EI, was entitled “COVID-19: From ASEAN Electrical Engineers Perspective.” It shared the expert opinion of three (3) engineering professionals from three (3) different countries namely: Brunei, Malaysia, and Philippines.
Dr. Varona, a prominent member of the electrical engineering profession in the Philippines and one of the strong proponents of Building Information Modelling, discussed that Virtual Mobilization will be a key factor in the mitigation of the effects of COVID-19 in the Architecture,Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector.
Dr. Varona also noted the success of his group, Multi-Disciplinary Institute of Technology, Inc. (MIT), in minimizing the effects of the government enforced Enhanced Community Quarantine in the Philippines through the use of virtual platforms.
Virtual mobilization, according to Dr. Varona, will be the new normal in the AEC sector in the future through the use of technological tools enabling engineers to practice their profession from anywhere and at anytime.
Other panel speakers were, Ir. Simon K. A. Leong of Brunei and Ir. Ng Win Siau of Malaysia. It was moderated by Ir. Yau Chau Fong and Mr. Low Pek Jun of Malaysia.
